John studied the organ at Harrow School (where he was a music scholar), taking the usual grade exams and winning the school organ prize on two occasions.  He did further study with teachers from the St. Giles International Organ School    For over ten years he was the regular organist at St. Clement’s Church in Notting Hill.,  deputising also at the larger sister church of St. James Norlands, especially for weddings and funerals.       He retired from this job in November 2021,  but is still available for occasional freelance organ work when required.
